Septeto Senen Suarez – Sabor Cubano, is Australia’s newest Cuban music ensemble playing original music and popular traditional Cuban songs.

Headed by Cuban Maykel Martos, the band recreates the sounds of Cuban band Combo de Senen Suarez, which Maykel directed for 11 years from 2001. During this period, the band produced two albums, Que Moviemento, produced by Envidia Records, which took the band to Uruguay in December 2003, and De Cuba Soy, produced by Egrem Records in 2010.

Senén Suárez group was one of the most popular dance bands in Cuba in the 60s, and this latest incarnation features the two sons of Mario Martos, the only surviving member of the original band. Maykel Martos is the current musical director and bongocero. His songs have style and kick. This project features many Senén Suárez original songs.

Now based in Brisbane, Maykel and his new band Septeto Senen Suarez aim to share the beauty and joy of Cuban music culture, and present to you original music and popular traditional Cuban music in the rhythms of rumba, conga de comparsa, son, son montuno, mambo, Latin jazz, songo and timba.

With each track a sizzling dance number, this son-salsa project is a must see.
