Ballina celebrated its river and beachside heritage at the weekend with its annual Prawn Festival. The festival featured a street parade, music, markets and competitions such as prawn shelling.

It was great fun to paddle in the 6 man canoe, with the Ballina Outrigger Canoe Club, “Kawaihae”, in the boat parade. We almost kept up with the trawlers!
