Beach installation 1214I wanted to share my latest installation with you all, made from artefacts I found scattered along the dunes near the Wreck on Monday morning (pictured above).

I was thinking of calling it Schoolies Go Home, until I found the plastic leftovers from a sushi and smoothie meal, complete with empty little plastic soy sauce fish.

Then I thought maybe I’d call it Filthy Pigs Like the Beach Too!  Anyway, I’m open to suggestions (1st prize gets to keep the installation).

Although perhaps with the impending opening up of the whole town for rent1, it won’t really matter.

The out-of-towner-tax-avoiding-double-gearers certainly won’t be dirtying their hands picking up their guests’ rubbish from our beaches.

And besides, all of our kids will have meaningful employment serving at fast food outlets and cleaning holiday flats.

Of course they’ll have to live in Casino because they certainly won’t be able to afford to live here.

But who cares, as long as there’s money to be made? Why let little things like the planning laws stand in your way?

That’s why I’m converting my house to an abattoir by day and a bordello by night.

I’ll use illegal immigrants, and they can work double shifts. Planning, environment, WHS, tax laws, who cares? No-one has the wherewithal to enforce these anyway.

And the rest of you can just stick it where the sun don’t shine in the interests of the economy!

Support The Echo

Keeping the community together and the community voice loud and clear is what The Echo is about. More than ever we need your help to keep this voice alive and thriving in the community.

Like all businesses we are struggling to keep food on the table of all our local and hard working journalists, artists, sales, delivery and drudges who keep the news coming out to you both in the newspaper and online. If you can spare a few dollars a week – or maybe more – we would appreciate all the support you are able to give to keep the voice of independent, local journalism alive.

Maybe the Dirtiest Town in NSW

  2. If that pic is the worse of it then take it from me you havent got it too bad at all. Come to Coffs where feral kids and brain dead adults leave alot more that a pile like that on the beach after a night of being brain dead morons who dont clean up after them selves. And be thankful that alot of the idiots that come to your local beaches are there only for a short period and then head back to Syd or the Goldie.

Coastal towns (and the beaches) up and down the coast are messed up by losers, don’t think Byron is unique in that sense.

The police should really check the areas more.
