The Life Saver Rescue Helicopter was kept busy on Saturday afternoon, attending two accidents within a matter of hours.
Around 5.30pm the helicopter was called to River Road, east of Wardell, where a male driver was trapped in his car as a result of a serious two-vehicle accident.
The helicopter was able to land near the accident site and paramedics assisted NSW Ambulance crew to stabilise the man, who was subsequently released from the vehicle.
The male driver suffered serious injuries to his lower limbs, legs and head.
He was flown to Gold Coast University Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
The condition of the other vehicle’s driver was not reported.
At around 3pm the same afternoon the helicopter was called to Limpinwood, west of Murwillumbah, where a man was suffering from burns to his limbs.
He was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance crews and the helicopter’s medical team before being flown to Lismore Base Hospital.
