Lennox Head local Angela Powditch is hopefully off to the UK soon, bar one hitch.
She is hoping the public may be able to help to get her ‘legal wings’ and assist with the cost of getting there and back.
She says, ‘I’ve been offered a place in the prestigious and highly sought-after international human rights law summer school at Oxford University in the UK in July. I am one of only three Australians who’ve been accepted into this year’s program.’
The full-time law student at Southern Cross University says she is also a single mum, with a three-year-old and a five-year-old.
‘It’s been actually hard to come to the point of asking for assistance, as it’s not something I’ve ever done before,’ she says.
‘This is the opportunity of a lifetime. I actually liken it to participating in the Olympics, as last year only 69 students from around the world were selected to complete this course and I believe the number is similar this year. So I am beyond thrilled to have been accepted!
‘I am a highly motivated law student who’s been achieving great marks at SCU. I am passionate about my law degree. My dream is to work as an international human rights lawyer.’
