A 58-year-old man was killed and a woman injured after a two-vehicle crash at Banora Point last night.
Police say that around 8.25pm (Wednesday), emergency services were called to the M1, at the turnoff to Fingal Head, following reports of a collision involving two cars.
The 58-year-old man who was driving one of the vehicles was treated by ambulance paramedics but died at the scene.
The woman driver of the second vehicle was taken to Tweed Hospital where she remains in a stable condition.
The two drivers were the only occupants of the vehicles.
Tweed/Byron Local Area Command officers are investigating and are appealing for witnesses to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
