T. Sharples, Tweed Heads

It’s good to see young Matthew (National Party Murwillumbah) get up again in the selection for the seat of Richmond.

He knows a lot more than he did last time.

But he and his mates have no idea how to defeat the “seasoned” Justine Elliot (ALP) outside naturally of hoping on hope the federal electoral change will give him and them the edge in the year of the Monkey.

Like a mozzie bite in the game young Matthew got selected with no idea how to win.

Support The Echo

Keeping the community together and the community voice loud and clear is what The Echo is about. More than ever we need your help to keep this voice alive and thriving in the community.

Like all businesses we are struggling to keep food on the table of all our local and hard working journalists, artists, sales, delivery and drudges who keep the news coming out to you both in the newspaper and online. If you can spare a few dollars a week – or maybe more – we would appreciate all the support you are able to give to keep the voice of independent, local journalism alive.

  1. Oh how true… but could you imagine if the pre-selection chose Cr Carolyn Byrne as the NP for Richmond. What a total humiliation that would besot the NP and the voters of the Richmond electorate!
Especially with her dealings in the TSC with other councillors and her purported improprieties with her expenses.
The question that Mr Fraser has to answer is, quote; “that we are going to get the real money we need for better schools, hospitals and to make this community the Healthy Lifestyles Capital of Australia”. Is Mr Fraser suggesting the LNP in the last three years has not given a ‘fair deal’ to the Richmond electorate and that if he was voted in, more capital would be coming this way?
What occurs if the LNP were to lose the election and that ‘heaven forbid’ that Mr Fraser became our elected official for Richmond… does this qualify Labor to do what I perceive as Mr Fraser’s comments above that no real funding occurs to an elected district if it is not in the sitting government?
