The body of a 23-year-old missing man  was found at the bottom of a steep hill  in dense bushland at Tomewin, near Murwillumbah, after an extensive police search and rescue operation.

The body has been identified as that of Jesse Southam-Marsh, a promising Gold Coast artist, who had been living out of his car while working on a mural in the area.

Mr Southam-Marsh was last seen on the afternoon of Wednesday, 17 August, at Tomewin, and police searching an area off Tomewin Road, Tomewin, found his body about 8am on Saturday.

There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances and a report is being prepared for the Coroner.

Police wish to thank the public for their help and information provided during this investigation.

Police are meanwhile renewing their calls for public assistance to help find a man missing from Hastings Point. Shaun Grace, aged 47, was last seen at the Hastings Point Headland earlier this month, where he was known to local residents, after living out of his car in the area for the past few months. Officers from Tweed/Byron Local Area Command were alerted after he was not seen for two weeks, and local residents became concerned for his welfare.

About 8am Saturday 20 August 2016, officers from Tweed/Byron Local Area Command with the assistance of Police Rescue, and the SES conducted an extensive search around the area where his car was located; however, he was not found. Shaun Grace is described as Caucasian in appearance, about 170cm tall, with an athletic build, tanned skin, and dark hair. Police are urging anyone with information, or anyone who knows the whereabouts of Shaun Grace to contact Tweed/Byron Police on (07) 5536 0999 or via Crime Stoppers.
