Ballina Greens announce ticket for 2024

Aiming to build on their two existing councillors, the Ballina Greens have announced their team of candidates for the upcoming Ballina Shire Council elections, set for 14 September this year.

Let’s get real you fools, 90 per cent of voters for a green council in Byron shire have no financial commitment to the area, and do leave the district, when they realise they can’t afford the cost of living here.

There have been many examples in my street alone, in the past 20-odd years, and is ongoing, they come and go, to cool for school and attitude to burn, five car’s or more to a residence, living like caged chickens.

That is not what Byron was ever about, but is the norm now, affordable housing, dream on councilors.

The current general manager of council is too empowered and overpaid based on statistics and data. I read in their own notices, investment of assets, some realistic town-planning for the area would be a great start, plus a serious approach to state government about taxing the tourist industry in this shire [no resident ratepayers is the future].

He has the newby councillors by the balls, and I don’t rate the rest, they should have known about the current rate rise, in their prior term, but their playing politics, well stuff their game playing, turn the roads back to dirt and dust, we pensioners can’t afford the [ready for the future] bullshit or the next big spin they throw, just amalgamate and get over yourselves.

Support The Echo

Keeping the community together and the community voice loud and clear is what The Echo is about. More than ever we need your help to keep this voice alive and thriving in the community.

Like all businesses we are struggling to keep food on the table of all our local and hard working journalists, artists, sales, delivery and drudges who keep the news coming out to you both in the newspaper and online. If you can spare a few dollars a week – or maybe more – we would appreciate all the support you are able to give to keep the voice of independent, local journalism alive.

  1. Perhaps Warren would like wealth laws to be introduced restricting the vote solely to property owners? This was the British system up until 1918.for males (with all females excluded from voting).
