Good friends Harley Kent and Timmy Yeung Packer from Byron Bay Public School have had a great year of sporting effort recognised.

Harley Kent has had a fantastic year in sport for his school and for Country NSW Basketball.

He has received the Premier’s Sporting Medal for representing Byron Primary in several sports including soccer, cross country, swimming and rugby 7s, rugby union, cricket, athletics and basketball.

Harley represented the north coast at state level for basketball and also played in the school team, leading them to a win at the NSW championships in Bathurst in September this year.

Harley has also received the North Coast Recognition Award for his excellence in basketball over three years, and has been selected in the Country NSW U/14 basketball team to play against other Australian states and New Zealand at Albury in January 2017.

From this tournament there will be an Australian team chosen to tour New Zealand in 2017.

Harley’s determination, dedication and great sportsmanship have all played a huge part in his receiving these awards

Good luck, Harley!

For Timmy Yeung Packer it was a big year of tennis.

He received the 2016 Ann Bird Memorial Sports Award from Byron Bay Primary and also received the 2016 North Coast School Sports Association Sports Award.

This was for ‘a high level of performance, attitude and fair play’ while playing for the North Coast Team which competed at the NSW PSSA Tennis Championships at Tweed Heads in August.

Timmy was also the recipient of the 2016 School Sport Australia Premier’s Certificate for an invaluable contribution to the NSW team, winning four of his singles, and a bronze medallion with NSW at the School Sports Australia Championships played on the grass courts at Albury in October.

Well done, Timmy!
