Police report that a ‘user-pays’ system was utilised to provide the 24-hour police presence at this year’s Falls Festival.
They estimated at 23,000 patrons per day passed through the gates, with 18,500 of those being on-site campers.
The operation was deemed successful, with no major incidents to report, although police performed 27 body searches and 15 vehicle searches as well laying 46 charges against festival patrons and providers.
They included three assaults, five drug detections, two intoxicated people, one licensing offence, nine move ons, 27 person searches, 15 vehicle searches, one resist/hinder officer, three offensive behaviour, two stealing incidents, and 29 x trespass (fence jumper) incidents.
