Police have charged a man in WA following an armed robbery at a bank in Ballina earlier this month, during which the thief allegedly made use of a blood-filled syringe as a weapon.
Just after 3pm on Wednesday 11 January 2017, a man entered a bank on River Street, Ballina, and demanded money from the teller.
The teller handed over cash and the man fled. He was last seen on River Street.
Police were told the man was armed with a blood-filled syringe but fortunately no one was injured during the incident.
Today (Wednesday, January24), detectives from Richmond Local Area Command travelled to Western Australia to speak to a 29-year-old man who had been detained for unrelated matters.
Detectives will apply for the extradition of the man from Western Australia in relation to the armed robbery of the Ballina bank on Wednesday, January 11.
