Ocean Shores beat Bangalow in the final of the Tweed Byron District President Reserve Triples held at Condong on February 5.

The Ocean Shores team of Jason Haywood, Neil McLeod and Kirk Olive had to launch repeated fightbacks until they ended up winning 22–18.

Skipper Neil ‘Steel’ McLeod kept his team in touch with pressure bowls throughout the match, but at the end it was a team effort that secured the win.

The Ocean Shores Women also had a fun morning last Friday when they played two spirited games.

The team of P O’Connor, J Williams and B Sprengel defeated M Hosie, G Johnston and J M Quirke. And M Flesser, J Howell beat J Busch, N Gartner.

Winner on secret score was the team of O’Connor, Williams and Sprengel. The latter also picked up the raffle win.

Mullum Singles

The first round of the Mullumbimby Bowling Club 2017 Major Pairs continued on Saturday in blistering conditions as the temperature on the green exceeding 40 degrees.

George and Adam McKenzie defeated Michael Lardi and Trent Foreman 29–17. Ross Graham and Sean Doherty held off Errol Boyter and Jean-Claude Canabou 21–13, with Doherty claiming a shot with his last bowl when his opponents were holding a possible match-tying seven shots.

Mark Holton went to the ‘blood bin’ and received medical attention after an accidental facial injury, before he and Larry Henry went down fighting 16–13 against Scott and Mark Hogan.

Brunswick Heads

In the women’s social bowls of February 7, Sherril Pearce, Kerry Dexter, Jenny Lofts (20) defeated Rosa Kinnear, Bev Gawned, Blossom (6).

Also Marcia Crichton, Maureen Bertoli (vis), Judy Wright (18) beat Marcia Crichton (swing), Jenny Meinel, Darilyn Guest (9).

Winners: Pearce, Dexter, and Lofts.
