Reclaiming childhood in the ‘device age’

A century and a half ago, the visionary Henry David Thoreau declared people had become ‘the tool of their tools.’  In this device-driven age of smartphones, social media, and artificial intelligence, few observations could be seen as more prescient.

Ballina Greens announce ticket for 2024

Aiming to build on their two existing councillors, the Ballina Greens have announced their team of candidates for the upcoming Ballina Shire Council elections, set for 14 September this year.

Brian Warrick, Bangalow.

I’m not sure if I am allowed to write a good news, happy story in your paper as most of the letters printed seem to be from rather bitter people not enjoying life at all. Please get out more and make the most of our beautiful area.

Anyhow, to those who missed the Bangalow Theatre Company’s production of Little Shop of Horrors, you missed a first class show. It is a great show anyhow but the BTCo. production was absolutely first class. The casting was brilliant as was the acting and the singing beautiful. The plants were amazing and of course the orchestra spot on. You would go a long way to find better entertainment.

So to all those rather sad people who seem to lead such decrepit lives that they can do nothing but complain, please do yourselves a favour and make sure you see the next BTCo. production

Support The Echo

Keeping the community together and the community voice loud and clear is what The Echo is about. More than ever we need your help to keep this voice alive and thriving in the community.

Like all businesses we are struggling to keep food on the table of all our local and hard working journalists, artists, sales, delivery and drudges who keep the news coming out to you both in the newspaper and online. If you can spare a few dollars a week – or maybe more – we would appreciate all the support you are able to give to keep the voice of independent, local journalism alive.

  1. Do you need a lift? Need a jolt to the heart?
Just what Blood Group are you as you may need a blood transfusion. Group A or O negative because I am positive that The little Shop of Horrors is a bloody good show as far as the blood will flow. Scrub that red patch off the carpet.
Centre stage is a florist shop in Skid Row in the USA in 1986 and there is no money and on the skids the Alcoholics and down and outs come in and out and give blood in blood transfusions as they are paid for blood in the US.
In this florist shop we have a plant than needs your blood as it is bloodsucking plant.
Aww, come on and have a heart and pump those ventricles. Look the blood pressure is increasing 194 over 130. Are you Horrified yet as your body goes limp with terror.
Come and have a look at Little Shop of Horrors and bring your tubing with you.
