facilities at Bangalow be excluded from the plan. Instead, after listening to representatives from the Bangalow Community Childrens Centre, Council voted to proceed with the inclusion of community facilities throughout the Shire, including but not limited to child care and aged care, in the Section review report. They also voted to convene a meeting between the consultants Connell Wagner and current child care operators at Bangalow who were not consulted originally when the recommendations were made. President of the Bangalow childcare centre Wendy Boyd said it was a great outcome. Were very happy with that because wed been left out of Section plan for Bangalow but it had been included for every other town in the Shire, she said. We were really happy that Council were going to instruct their consultants to come and see us. We were very impressed with the approach that the Councillors took to it, looking at it creatively, so that if long day care isnt required it can be used as a youth facility. And were looking forward to meeting with the consultants. The successful motion allows for Section funds to be used to build a multi-purpose facility which could be used as a child care centre if demand was there or revert to other uses once the needs of the population changed.Waste notThe Island Quarry SCENE which links volunteers with community, arts and ecologically sustainable organisations is seeking green material for composting in its community organic garden.
