But why a festival on Fathers Day, Sunday September 5 After the launch of the Fatherhood album in Byron Bay last year there have been numerous conversations from young fathers, from women wanting to talk about their dads, funny stories, sad stories about the impact fathers have in our lives, explained Colin George, producer of the Fatherhood CD. This spurred the formation of a not-for-profit group called The Fatherhood Project. The Fatherhood Project also wants to celebrate men and fathers and look at what they bring to their families and communities. The three day event takes a serious look at fatherhood and also has a lot of play planned into a packed program. Celebrating its th anniversary this month, Mensline currently mans the phones every night of the week between 7pm and pm, fielding calls from men all over the northern rivers who simply need someone to talk to. To continue to meet this need, Mensline will commence an extensive skills based training course for new volunteers on Wednesday August .
