Ryu Phoenix Saint catches up with Moshe outside Café Mazah.
It’s with a heavy heart and fond memories that we say goodbye to one of Mullum’s most cherished. Moshe, the much loved proprietor of Café Mazah, passed away peacefully in his sleep the night of Monday June 21.
He is survived by his brothers and sisters Ester, Lea, Joseph, Nissim, Rachel and Miriam, his children Meshie, Eli, Nadine and Pilar, an extended family, and a community of friends.
All were shocked by Moshe’s passing and mourned the loss of a great man at Moshe’s funeral service held at Southport on Friday.
He will be remembered for his kind heart and generosity, often giving hungry kids a free feed when in need.
He will be remembered for his brave character, running into a smoking Mallam’s, telling everyone to evacuate as he ran upstairs and used a fire extinguisher to put out a fire.
But mostly, he will be remembered as the loving and caring man that he was. Always there to listen to what you had to say, or to tell you a story from his past.
To know Moshe was to love Moshe, and to love Moshe was to have an infinitely richer life.
His parting gift to us all is a reminder that life is there to be lived. Live it to the full but don’t forget to take the time to stop and smell the roses.
Rest in peace, Moshe – we love you.
A gathering will be held on Saturday June 3 at 1pm in Heritage Park, Mullumbimby, for the local community to share stories about Moshe and to farewell the man in their own special way.
