There are no immediate plans to improve security at the Island Quarry site in Ewingsdale. At least five people have suffered serious back injuries from jumping off high cliffs into waterholes at the quarry.

Island Quarry Reserve Trust chairman Shane Rennie has pleaded with people in the past not to jump at the quarry but says doctors agree that you cannot prevent the practice as some people love danger.

Shane has suggested people use commonsense and take responsibility for their actions.

Fencing may add further danger when gaining access to the site.
