To celebrate Lismore’s newly decorated Star Court Theatre and Salon Verdi, tomorrow sees a Christmas Gala Performance with none other than Grace Knight.

Grace started her singing career in 1976 performing in folk clubs in the UK. A London talent scout spotted her in the semi-finals of a national talent quest and approached her with an offer of a gig in Dubai. The trip gave her a taste for performing, especially after meeting and sharing the stage with Martha Reeves and the Vandellas.

Grace sang her passage to Australia on the Women’s Weekly World Cruise and once in Perth Grace hooked up with a few bands and eventually found her niche when she and Bernie Lynch formed Eurogliders. The Eurogliders enjoyed major success in Australia with numerous hit singles and albums as well as chart success in the US. One of the highlights of touring the US was performing live to an audience of 65 million viewers on MTV’s New Year’s Eve show.

Towards the end of Eurogliders’ life, Grace was asked to perform an acting role in the ABC’s TV mini-series Come In Spinner. The TV series was a huge success, and the Come In Spinner soundtrack album recorded by Grace and Vince Jones was even bigger. Since then Grace Knight has become lauded for the easy joy of her torch/jazz/blues songs.

Saturday with pre-show drinks and canapes from 7pm. Tickets $34 / conc $30.

Keeping the community together and the community voice loud and clear is what The Echo is about. More than ever we need your help to keep this voice alive and thriving in the community.

Like all businesses we are struggling to keep food on the table of all our local and hard working journalists, artists, sales, delivery and drudges who keep the news coming out to you both in the newspaper and online.
