Minister for local government Don Page is urging councils in flood-affected local government areas to get on with the job of assessing damaged roads, indicating special funding could be available to fix them if they demonstrate sufficient need.
‘The first thing councils need to do is go and assess the damage. If [it] is sufficient then they can apply to the state government for assistance and for natural disaster declaration to assist with funding,’ he told ABC radio this morning.
