A male police officer has been charged following an alleged indecent assault in Goonellabah last year.

The constable, who is a serving officer attached to the Northern Region, was charged with assault with an act of indecency and assault occasioning actual bodily harm yesterday and served with a court attendance notice.

The charges relate to the alleged indecent assault of a woman at her home in Goonellabah on Saturday 5 November last year.

He is due to appear in Lismore Local Court on Thursday 16 February 2012.

The officer’s duty status is under review.
