I would like to say a big thankyou to the Regent Cinema proprietors for supporting community film screenings. It is wonderful to have a local cinema that retains its classic art deco style with a cosy and welcoming ambience, receptive to the varied elements of our diverse community.
Recently, the cinema screened the film The Economics of Happiness to an absolutely packed house (220 people) and hosted a Q&A with filmmaker and economic analyst Helena Norberg-Hodge. The discussion following the movie ranged from a sharing of local initiatives such as ‘sustainability street’ to a growing concern for the impact of transnational corporations such as McDonald’s entering out local economy. Thank you to Sandra, Deb and Erin and all who attended to make this a successful event!
