Byron Bay police want to speak to a 16-year-old youth after a tourist had to be taken to hospital following an assault in Railway Park in the early hours of Saturday morning.
The victim had to be taken to Tweed Hospital after he intervened in an attack at the park at about 1.15am. He received cuts to his neck for his generosity.
Acting Inspector Jason Dowds told local media the Dutch tourist ‘was just trying to help and he copped one’.
Police are still looking for a Caucasian male, about 16 years old, wearing a black shirt and a black cap and who may have a lip or face piercing.
