An 18-year-old Casino man was killed after he lost control of his car and slammed into a tree on Naughtons Gap Road, Casino, last night.
At around 8pm the young driver had negotiated a left-hand bend in his Ford Falcon sedan when he lost control and crossed on to the wrong side of the road before colliding with the tree.
A report will be prepared for the Coroner following the crash.
Police from the Richmond Local Area Command and other emergency services attended the scene, but despite their efforts the driver died from his extensive injuries.
The front passenger of the sedan, a 19-year-old Casino man, suffered minor injuries and was taken to Lismore Base Hospital.
Naughtons Gap Road was closed for four hours while police conducted examinations of the scene.
