Maybe the Byron mayor has Tony Abbott’s disease. Okay, so she doesn’t like the idea of CCTV cameras.

What are her options? More talkfests?

CCTV cameras have proven to be a success in other towns. Byron’s very active tourism promoting industry, mega festivals and the pubs could foot the bill since it’s their activities which sell Byron as a party town.

The drunken behaviour and violence, which is now destroying Byron, needs to be regarded as a crisis. Police are being asked to deal with parental failures and social problems at great risk to themselves. The situation sucks and the mayor’s solution is unacceptable.
