Backlash Stan Grant

Extraordinary negative and callous statements regarding Stan Grant in the recent edition’s Backlash section. Grant was a terrible host?...

I went and saw Wish You Were Here last week at Byron Bay and – wowee – it is so brilliant it’s no wonder it was picked to open Sundance. I thought about it all the way home and woke up still thinking about it.

A low-budget Aussie film and I can’t think of a better Aussie film really, though there are plenty to choose from. I’ve recently seen The Descendants (which I loved) and Midnight in Paris (great as well) and this I reckon is better than both. Joel Edgerton is brilliant but everything about it is just a beautiful film.

It is showing now and won’t be at cinemas for long. So do yourself a favour, as Molly would say. Congratulations to the director, cast and crew and Screenworks for putting it on – it was great to hear from the director and what a story he had to tell. I’m giving it five stars, Margaret! This is a little Aussie beauty really deserving of support.
