All the bleating from those desperately trying to boost their ailing business models by flooding Byron Shire with mega music festivals is so disingenuous. By enlisting hordes of ‘groovers’ to support their quest for unlimited access to ply their carnival-style trade, against the wishes of a small regional/rural shire, is contemptible. These large festivals employ large numbers of fly-in-fly-out staff and leave a few paltry crusts for eager locals who are happy to direct traffic, empty toilets and clean the venues used. They do not generate enough sustainable employment or dollars for the inconvenience and cost to our Shire.
