The Mullumbimby Community Garden has dedicated 500m2 to a Children’s Garden, which will be a safe place to play, learn and experience nature. With a sensory garden, educational space, adventure playground, mud-play kitchen, there will also be family-based forums/activities, curriculum-based programs and school-holiday workshops.
The gardens have been funded through a Coles Junior Landcare Grant and they have recently begun the creation of the sensory garden.
The Byron Community College Certificate III Permaculture students are helping to implement the garden. On Thursday 24 from 9.20 they will be finalising their permablitz of the sensory garden part of the site. They still need a lot of hands from volunteers to help to finish this great project. Interested people with suitable skills should contact project coordinator Andrea Pedersen on 6684 4496.
