Enjoy a night of music that celebrates song stripped down to its simple roots. Local duo acts Ruthie-ma-Toothie and Jim-Bob will share with you their love of song in a night that’ll be a little bit country, a little bit gypsy-blues. Ruthie-ma-Toothie is a two-piece fiddle-and-guitar outfit that take songs of yesteryear and give them a little twist. Tunes range from gypsy-like versions of Ella Fitzgerald to spaghetti western interpretations of Townes Van Zandt songs to Hank Williams as you’ve never heard them before! Jim-Bob is a meeting of the rich interests and talents of Jimmy Willing and Davey Bob Ramsay. Davey’s playing evokes the raw earthy sounds of pre-Second World War blues. His distinct sound is fuelled by his obsession and knowledge of early American folk and blues… Jimmy Willing on the other hand is a rambling storyteller, who has the knack of spinning truth into legend. He is a singer/songwriter who shares Davey’s love of old, old music.
They are the latest old-fashioned thing for at least 10 miles around. See them at the Gollan Hotel, Lismore on Saturday.
