The recent reports of CSG exploration and mining close to urban centres hit home recently when we were informed of the current prospecting licence (a precursor to an exploration licence), which covers most of the Tweed Shire covers land right up to the back of the Seabreeze Estate, Pottsville.
In urban centres we often think CSG will only effect rural areas. But the rural areas are where the Tweed Shire water supply comes from.
Now the licence backs onto our residential streets, the streets which may one day house our high school.
We need to get active in our campaign to get the process of fracking stopped until it can be proven to be safe for our community. Say no to CSG mining in our shire.
