The Lissy Stanton Band is an intriguing, charming mix of Lissy on vocals, piano and tin whistle, Kimon Peters on drums and congas, and Justin Pfeiffer on double bass and electric bass. Gorgeous vocals and thought-provoking lyrics are woven into beautiful melodies that draw from folk, jazz, rock influences to create a unique sound.
An engaging conversationalist penning 100 per cent original compositions, Lissy’s performances have warmth, energy and a huge injection of personality.
Lissy is a talented songwriter who also combines a mean piano, gorgeous vocals and a haunting tin whistle throughout her shows. Her original compositions have received multiple award nominations in the North Coast Entertainment Industry (NCEIA) Dolphin Awards and the National MusicOz Awards, and she has been a featured artist in the Australian Music Magazine (AMMA) promoted throughout Europe and the UK.
Kimon Peters joined the band in 2010 after a chance meeting with Lissy at his underground venue Burleigh Underground Drummers (BUD). After many years gigging and honing his drumming and percussion skills, Kimon founded Burleigh Underground Drummers to share his passion with others. A unique warehouse-style performance space, BUD provides one of the best live music venues on the Gold Coast for local and international touring acts.
Justin Pfeiffer came on board early in 2011 bringing the distinctive tone of the double bass to the LSB sound while also combining his electric bass on certain tracks. Justin has spent time touring nationally and internationally. He was based in Japan during the 1990s playing with various jazz bands.
You can see Lissy this Friday at Stokers Siding.
