Call to protect oceans from plastic and pollution

A new sign has been installed at Main Beach, Byron Bay, calling for increased awareness and collective action on the issue of marine debris and pollution.

The arrogance of power is clearly shown in the Shooters and Fishers Party’s website Q&A about Barry O’Farrell’s sleazy deal to allow them access to our national parks for recreational killing.

One of the most telling Q&As is this one: ‘Will parks really be closed to other users while hunters hunt, and will NPWS staff have to supervise them, or will it be like in state forests?’ Answer: ‘It will be as it is in state forests. National parks will not be closed and there will be no close supervision by NP staff.’

See http://www.shootersandfishers.org.au/news/faqs-hunting-in-national-parks.

So the shooters are to be allowed into our parks unsupervised by those we pay to look after them? This shows how badly cobbled together this deal is and how totally corrupt the whole Liberal National Party have become when it comes to doing sleazy deals for their state asset sale agenda – you know, the one they kept secret during the election campaign.

The  facts are that the NSW Liberal/Nationals coalition government has made our beautiful national parks into private game-hunting estates for these weirdos with their blood lust and desire-to-kill psychosis.

Wanting to kill animals for pleasure is surely that, a mental disease and  psychosis; just ask any psychologist. The people of NSW must be feeling very insecure knowing that the state is in the hands of a bunch of gun-toting pleasure killers whose only agenda is to get their own way no matter what, even selling off the assets your grandparents and parents worked hard to amass.

This is the sad and sorry state of conservative politics in this nation nowadays and must cause people to pause and think if this is where we want to go, especially as we see constant mass shootings all over the world by psychotics who would not have been able to do as much damage and murder if they simply did not have access to guns.

Support The Echo

Keeping the community together and the community voice loud and clear is what The Echo is about. More than ever we need your help to keep this voice alive and thriving in the community.

Like all businesses we are struggling to keep food on the table of all our local and hard working journalists, artists, sales, delivery and drudges who keep the news coming out to you both in the newspaper and online. If you can spare a few dollars a week – or maybe more – we would appreciate all the support you are able to give to keep the voice of independent, local journalism alive.

  1. Have you lost it?!
Its hard to address all yor ill-informed views in one sitting, so lets just concentrate on a couple. ‘Gun toting pleasure killers?’ Do you even know what these people are hunting? So I suppose you will be one of these Johnny come lately, hairy arm pitted, rent a ferals that whinges when we have all been over run by native and domestic pests. As much as you would like to believe it in your hippy-esque fantasy world-these problems do not look after themselves.
‘Weirdos with a blood lust’ and ‘killing for pleasure.’ Have you bothered to actually talk to anyone with a gun license involved in this? Your sweeping statements make you sound like an ill-informed dullard. So I suppose Aboriginals are cruel and have a bloodlust because they kill a roo with a spear, or pull the skin off a snake while its alive, or throw a goanna on the fire alive. So thats not cruel, but if you want to cull some pests to help save our native fauna and flora-they are ‘weirdos with a bloodlust’.
Also, the latest killing in Colorado was carried out with four guns that were ALL obtained illegally, along with the ammo, to carry out that discusting, cowardly act; what rock have you been hiding under? Do you think these killers just mosey on down to their local gun store and get weapons and ammo in their name to go and kill with. Its a little thing called the Black Market. Availability is always there legal or not. so your last para graph is non-sensical aswell.
Avoid future embarrasment, and get informed.
