Facing justice… Jonathon Stenberg escorted by police at Sydney Airport yesterday.

Alleged killer Jonathon Stenberg will appear in a Sydney court this morning after being extradited from the Northern Territory yesterday charged with murdering his neighbour Ned Kelly.

Stenberg was arrested following a massive manhunt at Berry Springs, south of Darwin, when police investigations led them to NT.

He is charged with the decapitation murder of Kelly at his River Street, Broadwater home.

Kelly’s decapitated body was found in the kitchen of the house on 21 June, sparking the massive manhunt.

It was revealed yesterday that Stenberg, who had spent time in the army, had successfully auditioned for a role in a movie being filmed at Winton in Qld while on the run.

Support The Echo

Keeping the community together and the community voice loud and clear is what The Echo is about. More than ever we need your help to keep this voice alive and thriving in the community.

Like all businesses we are struggling to keep food on the table of all our local and hard working journalists, artists, sales, delivery and drudges who keep the news coming out to you both in the newspaper and online. If you can spare a few dollars a week – or maybe more – we would appreciate all the support you are able to give to keep the voice of independent, local journalism alive.
