Chris Cherry, Wooyung
I have finally made the decision to stand for council in the upcoming Tweed Shire Council elections.
I had hoped another local candidate would step forward but so far none have.
It has been too long since the southern part of the shire had a local representative on council.
My decision has been prompted by the lack of advocacy on behalf of many of our current councillors for the rights of our community, especially in terms of the Pottsville High School lands and other community infrastructure issues.
I feel strongly that the southern Tweed Coast communities need a representative on our council and I will do what I can to make this happen.
We need a council that can work together to achieve strong community outcomes.
There are some good candidates out there so here’s hoping for a brighter future in the Tweed.
