The Independent Liquor and Gaming Authority will be in Byron Bay tomorrow to hear evidence on the application by Woolworths’ cheap-alcohol outlet Dan Murphy’s to open a bottleshop in the town.
There has been considerable opposition to the application from local residents concerned about the high incidence of alcohol-related violence in the town, which already has four take-away liquor outlets.
Woolworths plans to transfer a licence from Sydney to cover the new shop, which it plans to build behind the Dendy cinema.
The meeting will be held at the Byron Bay Community Centre at 3pm Monday the 3rd of September. To attend, phone Troy Bell on 9995 0355 or email [email protected].au.
