Byron Bay woman Margaret Fisher (pictured) has won silver in the world seniors tennis championships, held last week in Croatia.
Ms Fisher, 82, who is the current Australian singles champion (over-80s), won the silver medal in yesterday’s final of the mixed doubles, in the International Tennis Federation World Super Seniors Tennis Championships in the over-80s category.
The medal comes after a fortnight’s competition, in which Ms Fisher represented Australia in the over-80s teams’ event, and also competed in the individual events.
The Australian women’s team came fifth overall (there were nine teams in the competition).
Ms Fisher’s mixed doubles partner was Doug Corbett, 85, from Sydney.
