Lennox All Girls

The All Girls Surfriders have had an awesome couple of weeks. Last week saw the Mid North Coast Girls Surfriders and Tweed Coast Girls join us for a tag team event at our local Lennox break. This was a huge amount of fun and a big success. This week followed on with our August club round at Lennox Beachies. The weather was crystal clear sunshine; waves were very small and peeling around the coast.

We were fortunate enough to be able to run on two banks. Results for the August club round are:

Longboards :1 Roisin Carolan 2 Carol Stevenson 3 Maz Pentecost 4 Jan Webster 5 Marg Bryant. 1st Div: Roisin Carolan 2 Vic Marano 3 Isabel Mayo 4 Jane Tranberg. 2nd Div: 1 Ebony Santamaria 2 Alice Mc Donald 3rd Div: Mahlia Carr 2 Grace Tetley 3 Lily Lewis 4 Georgia Laddin. JNR BEG: 1 Jess Mills 2 Bella Armstrong 3 Shaylla Young 4 Jasmine Sloane. SNR BEG 1 Christina Dunn 2 Marika Illic 3 Jules Galloway 4 Sonia Acelet.

Well done to everyone who surfed and see you next month.

Mark Smith won the open singles competition undefeated and Chris Strybos was second with the one loss. Bob Cawthorne and Chris Strybos defeated Nat Strybos and Mark Smith 3–1 in the final to win the doubles competition.

*** All welcome, play is at the Mullumbimby Tennis Clubhouse, Byron Street Mullumbimby, Thursday evening 6.30 start. Also, build on your skills with our new table-tennis robot.

A note from the editorial team

Some of The Echo’s editorial team: journalists Paul Bibby and Aslan Shand, editor Hans Lovejoy, photographer Jeff Dawson and Mandy Nolan

The Echo has never underestimated the intelligence and passion of its readers. In a world of corporate banality and predictability, The Echo has worked hard for more than 30 years to help keep Byron and the north coast unique with quality local journalism and creative ideas. We think this area needs more voices, reasoned analysis and ideas than just those provided by News Corp, lifestyle mags, Facebook groups and corporate newsletters.

The Echo is one hundred per cent locally owned and one hundred per cent independent. As you have probably gathered from what is happening in the media industry, it is not cheap to produce a weekly newspaper and a daily online news service of any quality.

We have always relied entirely on advertising to fund our operations, but often loyal readers who value our local, independent journalism have asked how they could help ensure our survival.

Any support you can provide to The Echo will make an enormous difference. You can make a one-off contribution or a monthly one. With your help, we can continue to support a better informed local community and a healthier democracy for another 30 years.”

Echonetdaily is made possible by the support of all of our advertisers and is brought to you by this week's sponsors Vast Furniture & Homewares Ballina and Falls Festival Byron Bay.
