Police are appealing for information after a young girl was approached by a man at Tweed Heads on Monday.

About 9am a 15-year-old girl was waiting for a bus outside a shopping centre on Minjungbal Drive.

She told police that a man driving an orange car stopped beside her and offered her a lift but she declined.

The man drove off but returned a short time later and again asked if she wanted a lift, before telling her to get into the vehicle.

The girl ran into the shopping centre and the man drove away.

Tweed Police are investigating the report and are appealing for anyone with information about the incident to contact them or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
