A 16-year-old boy was unprepared for a night spent in Nightcap National Park after he became separated from his family on a walk to Minyon Falls yesterday afternoon.
Westpac Lifesaver Rescue Helicopter searched for the boy yesterday evening using night-vision goggles but abandoned the search after failing to sight him.
Police, ambulance, SCAT officers and SES continued searching through the evening and found him at around 10pm.
Because of the difficult terrain the boy spent the night with his rescuers and is due to be winched out by helicopter this morning.
