When I was 18, to rebel against the world my parents had created, I shaved a half Mohawk, encouraged my hair to stand on end, grew my armpit hair, wore torn black rags, too much eyeliner and wore 18-hole Dr. Martens boots. These days, to give their parents the shits, the kids are wearing Crocs. With socks. They’re going for comfort.

The Mullum Brunswick Milo Squad’s participation at the first Test Match at the Gabba in Brisbane is in the bag. The junior squad provided the lunchtime entertainment for the crowd enjoying the South Africa v Australia clash on the fourth day’s play.

A bunch of lucky locals played on the Gabba turf in front of thousands, and then sat in the stands to watch Ricky Ponting and Michael Clarke fight the good fight.

Mr Ponting thought the Mullum Bruns cricketers so talented that he bombed their very important photo shoot at the Gabba. Ricky kept pestering the kids for autographs and insisted on joining them for their press conference. Either that, or he just happened to be warming up in the background while they posed near the practice nets.
