A quick read of the article ‘Logging proposed for local national parks’ is a clear indicator of where these governments are taking us! I reckon it’s as the song says: ‘Highway To Hell’.
This is the same state government that the federal government wants to hand over the environmental protection laws to.
If you think this has nothing to do with CSG production, you haven’t got your thinking caps on.
Clear the trees, destroy the habitat, leave nothing to save, and no excuses not to have CSG in the northern rivers.
Health impacts… what health impacts? Remember, according to them, CSG is clean and green. So green they can destroy every forest to get to the stuff.
CSG creates jobs too… well it will now, if you’re a logger in the sawmill industry!
What about the future? It will be great for the pollies. The next election they will able to give out the best budget on record – billions in profit, and we all benefit. Woohoo – we will all be winners, and we will do what we have always done: vote them in again!
What about in 50 years’ time though? No trees: no loggers. No gas: no miners. No agriculture: no farmers. Nothing to see: no tourism. Two industries that might be still going: Centrelink and undertaking!
There might still be a few of us left who have evolved sufficiently to handle the conditions, and by golly, the handful left will have the best roads, schools and hospitals money can buy. You betcha!
But don’t forget, folks – don’t smoke and click clack front and back.
You have gotta laugh, hey!
