A has appeared in Lismore Local Court after being charged with several firearm matters after an alleged domestic incident near Murwillumbah overnight.
About 11pm on Friday night a 24-year-old man and a 31-year-old woman were at their home in Doon Doon Road at Midginbil with the woman’s child, when the couple were involved in an argument.
The man took the woman’s car and allegedly drove from the home returning a short time later.
The woman, and her brother, walked out of the house and were allegedly threatened by the man with a long-barrelled firearm.
While the woman ran inside and contacted police the man again drove away.
About 4.30am on Saturday the man was arrested without incident about 100 metres from the home.
Officers then went to another house in Midginbil Road where they seized more guns and ammunition.
The man was taken to Tweed Heads Police Station where he was charged with drive whilst disqualified, drive under the influence of alcohol, possess loaded firearm in public place, handle/use firearm under the influence of alcohol, carry firearm in manner likely to injure person and stalk/intimidate intend fear physical harm.
The man was refused bail and will appear at the Lismore Bail Court tomorrow.
