A motorcyclist was injured when he hit a tree in Mt Jerusalem National Park on Saturday.

The accident occurred on Middle Ridge Trail in Upper Main Arm.

Police and paramedics from Murwillumbah attended to the rider, who had a suspected hip injury.

The Westpac Rescue helicopter was also dispatched to the scene but was unable to winch out the injured rider, due to the steep terrain and dense forest.

The rider was transported by road ambulance to Uki.

Echonetdaily understands the accident occurred in a part of the forest that is officially closed to motorcyclists.
