The US state of California is suing five major fossil fuel companies over their contribution to the climate crisis.

Two men have been charged following an alleged home invasion at Urbenville on Tuesday.

At about 9.30pm, three men forced entry into a house on Boomi Street.

They allegedly punched and kicked a 44-year-old man inside the premises before assaulting him with a rake until it broke.

The three men eventually left the house.

The man was taken to Urbenville Hospital and treated for lacerations to his scalp and body.

About 3.30pm on Wednesday a 60-year-old man was arrested at Beaury Street, Urbenville, and taken to Casino Police Station, where he was charged with aggravated enter dwelling with intent to cause actual bodily harm.

About 3.45pm the same day a 38-year-old man was arrested at a hotel on Urban Street, Urbenville and taken to Casino Police Station, where he was charged with aggravated assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

Both men were given strict bail conditions to appear at Kyogle Local Court on Thursday 17 January 2013.

Police will allege the men were known to the victim and it was not a random attack.

Investigations are continuing.
