New South Wales Institute of Sport snowboarder Alex Pullin cemented his name as one to watch at the 2014 Olympic Winter Games with a historic snowboard cross world championship victory over the weekend. Competing at the FIS Snowboard World Championships in Stoneham, Canada, Pullin became the first male to win consecutive snowboard cross world titles with his stirring ride. Pullin finished first in all four races en route to gold, powering to an early lead in the final that his competitors could not match. The gold medal is Pullin’s second world championship triumph after his success in 2011, with the 25-year-old becoming the first Australian winter sports athlete to win two world championship crowns.
