A group of people from Ocean Shores and its surrounds had been working tirelessly to organise a public meeting to assess whether the community wanted the area to be Gasfield Free.
To that end they erected eight yellow-and-black signs around the community to inform of the upcoming meeting. The signs said ‘Gasfields here? Meeting and Film at 3pm on Saturday, 16 February, at the Ocean Shores Community Centre’.
On the night of Sunday February 11, seven of the eight signs were vandalised, pulled up, thrown aside or completely removed.
Are we living in such an undemocratic society that it is no longer okay to invite the public to a meeting to assess their feelings on the subject?
Please come to the meeting and support a survey process to find out if the majority of residents wish to declare Ocean Shores and its surrounds Gasfield Free.
