I am outraged that Tweed Shire Council is pursuing Cr Milne over a claimed outstanding debt of $351.
My outrage has absolutely nothing to do with Cr Milne but rather with the inconsistency being exhibited by this council.
Last year it came to public attention that the promoters of the World Rally Championship (WRC) had left town owing $126,000 to the council.
I raised my concerns through the media at the time.
The council eventually settled with the Confederation of Australian Motor Sport (CAMS), who wholly owned the company that ran the rally, for a cash payment of $15,000 and a commitment to run some sort of motor vehicle-related ‘festival’ in the Tweed later this year.
Balance it up… $351 from Katie Milne versus $126,000 from CAMS.
One gets a deal and the other gets a court case.
Guess which is which!
Something is very definitely ‘on the nose’ here.
