Kingscliff Men

The rainy weather has played havoc with the club events with only Saturday afternoon bowls being played last week.

Club Championship News: Open Pairs: This competition will continue this Saturday March. The draw is: W Blackwood, J Akers v S Dawson, I Taylor; J Julius, R Graham v I Smith, V Lewis; B Watson, S 2 Quinn v S Bass, Tango; D Crompton, P Crompton v G Barrack, R McLeay; C McFadden, P McGirr v H Highfield, J Felton; J Quinn, S Jamieson v J Ritchie, M Richards; R Julius, B Turner v H Hockey, O Simpson; K Taylor, D Whittington v K Liddington, M Turner. Tweed Valley Shield: The A Division suffered losses on both rinks to South Tweed last Monday. Social Bowls Results: Saturday February 23: Winners: W Blackwood, R Julius, R Spence; S Dawson, G Barrack, T Hills. Plate Winners: A Reid, P Tindall, A Hansen

*** District News: The rain also caused disruption to the District Triples. The first round will now be played on Sunday March 10. In the Open Triples the Kingscliff teams skipped by Mike Richards and Ian Taylor will play each other. This game is at Cabarita and the winner will play again in the afternoon. There are five Kingscliff teams in the Seniors Triples and again Kingscliff teams will meet up in the first round. Ron Erikson’s team will play John Reardon’s team and Peter Murphy will skip his team against Brian Turner’s team. John Felton’s team will play the Cabarita team skipped by Jim Cook. These games will be held at Byron Bay.

Like all businesses we are struggling to keep food on the table of all our local and hard working journalists, artists, sales, delivery and drudges who keep the news coming out to you both in the newspaper and online.
