Jo Wilkin of Banora Point is completely baffled by grassroots politics. The Greens locally may or may not decide to give any preferences at the next federal election based on whether they believe a group or party deserves it. They can leave this decision up to the individual voter. I call that democracy.
If there is a decision not to preference Labor it will be due to the failure of Labor policies to protect the environment from the fossil fuel industry, or dent their profits with a reasonable carbon tax; at the same time climate change seems to have dropped off the radar.
On social issues Labor can usually better the coalition by sticking up for the workers whereas the coalition usually stick it up the workers. But what has the Gillard government done for single parents, refugees or education?
Local grassroots Greens members will make a decision when the policies of all parties have been scrutinised.
But why would anyone who cared about the environment possibly vote for The Greens.
It was a Greens support Labor government that started the CSG industry in Queensland.
It was a Greens supported Labor government in Canberra that approved the current csg projects.
It was a Greens supported Labor party in NSW that started the CSG industry in NSW.
It was a Greens supported Labor party that approved Uranium sales to India.
It is a Greens, and Mining Company supported Prime Minister That appointed the head of a Coal Seam Gas company onto the board of the Reserve Bank.
It is a Greens and Mining Company supported Prime Minister that just appointed the head of BG-group to oversee the G20 meeting in Brisbane.
There is no point voting for The Greens, you may just as well vote Labor, when The Greens had the power, they were too gutless to use it. The Gillard government should have been ended many times because what they were doing was just so environmentally damaging.
The Greens had the chance, they blew it, and blew it, and blew it. An alternative party is needed, but The Greens isn’t it. Forget what they say, look at what they have done.
