Senior police officer and Kingscliff area supervisor Sergeant Mark Garner has appeared in court for a second time on charges that he had sex with a woman at Kingscliff Police Station.

Sgt Garner has been stood down and has yet to enter a plea.

Police allege that between 2am and 4am on September 16, 2011, Garner had sex with an unidentified female at the police station while on duty.

Lismore Local Court heard allegations that he also allowed a woman who was not an authorised person to handle his Glock pistol.

The case has been adjourned again until May 7.
